The gnome updater applets sees there are updates pending.
Following my custom, I fire yast (I like the -qt version of the software module more), instead of clicking the icon below. I do the updates.
The applet doesn't notice and still says there are updates pending; this is expected.
The problem is that there is no option to tell it "refresh now". Only weekly, hourly, daily. Not even "custom". Not nice.
That's a bug in PackageKit-gnome. It should just notice that an update was done. The refresh stuff is not, AFAIK, for refreshing the state displayed in the applet, but to download the metadata (like when you do zypper refresh) and then determine if something has to be done.
