Why do you want to convert pidgin logs to empathy format? I guess they are text files and vi should be enough? Or use pidgin to view only those archived logs and move to empathy.

That's like really terrible terrible user experience suggestion. Hey user, parse those log files yourself... I thought we wanted to provide a good user experience in general, but also for new users.
