Feature changed by: Stanislav Visnovsky (visnov) Feature #303678, revision 38 Title: New yast module - LIRC configuration openSUSE-11.1: Rejected by Stanislav Visnovsky (visnov) reject date: 2008-06-24 15:31:30 reject reason: More urgent stuff to cover. Priority Requester: Desirable openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Stanislav Visnovsky (visnov) reject date: 2009-02-02 13:29:45 reject reason: Out of scope. Postponing. Priority Requester: Desirable openSUSE-11.3: Evaluation by engineering manager Priority Requester: Desirable Projectmanager: Desirable Requested by: Ladislav Slezak (lslezak) - Product Manager: Federico Lucifredi (flucifredi) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Create a new Yast module for configuring IR receivers and remote controls. * irrecord support * ir-kbd-i2c, ir-kbd-gpio support as in tv module already * reading users' config to find out what buttons were defined (only if /home partition left from last installation) * support for lirc's options in /etc/sysconfig See bug https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=381641 Discussion: #4: Dean Hilkewich (deanjo13) (2009-11-04 06:28:29) I really hope this accepted with 11.3. It just took me a couple of hours to realize that my old lirc config wouldn't work in 11.2 that I used in 11.1. The device was now /dev/lirc0 instead of /dev/lirc like it was in 11.1. #5: Todd R (theblackcat) (2009-12-03 04:57:52) I think this is pretty important. LiRC is one of the last classes of common hardware that cannot be configured using a GUI in openSUSE. #7: Ladislav Slezak (lslezak) (2010-03-02 17:10:13) Configuring LIRC is quite complex and a simple YaST module cannot cover all possibilities. So we should focus on the basic functionality here. Here is my proposal: Basic functionlity: - read/write /etc/sysconfig/lirc settings - set lircd driver, module, device... - select a remote controller model from lirc-remote package or start irrecord and create a new config for the user's controller - enable/disable lirc system service Editing user's config is very complex because ~/.lircrc (or /etc/lircrc) can contain e.g. include ~/.lircd/mplayer Is that sufficient for most users? Please, comment. #8: Jakub Rusinek (liviopl) (2010-03-02 17:36:54) You don't have to add all the features at once. For 11.3/12.0 you could give the most basic features, present in /etc/sysconfig already and then you could add more complex feature one by another. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/303678
