[New: openFATE 314492] MySQL Workbench update to 5.2.38
Feature added by: Kjetil Kilhavn (kjetil_kilhavn) Feature #314492, revision 1 Title: MySQL Workbench update to 5.2.38 openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Kjetil Kilhavn (kjetil_kilhavn) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: There is a bug in the current version of mysql-workbench, http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=63857, which prevents use of the workbench for administration of databases. Commit comment for the bug fix: Opening a "Server Administration" tab for a server instance that has remote management via SSH enabled would result in an error, and fail to load. An alternative to updating to version 5.2.38 is of course to implement the patch and release version 5.2.37-4.1.3 Test Case: I am not sure if a clean install will give you the test case easily, but it's worth a try. Start MySQL Workbench Choose âNew Server Instanceâ in the lower right corner. Complete the wizard and try to open the instance. Use Case: A local MySQL database is used for Amarok and Digikam. I am not able to administer the database and add specific (non-root) users for the applications and restrict their accesses to the correct databases. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: I would prefer not storing my root password in Digikamâs and Amarokâs configurations. I would also prefer to limit access only to relevant databases in case of a fatal error in any of the programs. This was quite easy to do in MySQL Workbench (although an error in Digikam preventet me from restricting that userâs accesses). However, after reinstalling openSUSE the mentioned bug causes an error message and I am not able to perform any administrative tasks (using the GUI tools). -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/314492
