[New: openFATE 318269] Installation/Upgrade: Possibility to "download packages in advance"
Feature added by: Lukas Ocilka (locilka) Feature #318269, revision 1 Title: Installation/Upgrade: Possibility to "download packages in advance" Requested by: Lukas Ocilka (locilka) Requested by: Olaf Hering (olh) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Dynamic repositories, such as Factory are expected to change while Yast is installing packages from them. Current Installer downloads a package and then installs it, one by one. This can produce an inconsistent system as not all packages are still available when installer gets to installing them. The slower the system or the network is, the more probably this issue happens. This feature requests asks for a new functionality to - download all packages in advance. If it still happens that some package is not available, Installer could offer to run a software selection again and (automatically) choose new versions of packages if they are available. Test Case: * Installer offers the possibility to download packages from online repositories in advance * If some package in such online repository disappears, user can rerun the software selector and make a new selection * Installation of packages doesn't start before all the requested ones are downloaded * At the end, system is in a consistent state * This functionality should be disabled when all downloaded packages do not fit into the cache in time when all packages are installed (the installed ones could be cleared from cache though). Use Case: I, as a user, have a slower system and common speed of internet connection. I need to install Factory from online repositories. The installed system has to be in a consistent state after installation. No missing/skipped packages from the SW selection.
