[New: openFATE 315091] support of opensc based smartcards (cryptostick) via Kleopatra with GnuPG2
Feature added by: Stakanov Schufter (stakanov) Feature #315091, revision 1 Title: support of opensc based smartcards (cryptostick) via Kleopatra with GnuPG2 openSUSE.org: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Stakanov Schufter (stakanov) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: currently there is no working integration of Kleopatra with GnuPG and opensc based smart cards. In my case: https://www.crypto-stick.com/ This seems to be just a lack of implementation in openSUSE. If one imports a udev rule from the producer and uses gpA (installing opensc and psclite) then the stick is (in gpA!) recognized. In Kleopatra the smartcard remains unrecognized. It would be nice if security orientated tools like the aforementioned card (which is by the way all opensouce hardware) would be supported better in Kleopatra under openSUSE. Furthermore, GpA is currently not delivered in the official repos but has to be taken from packman (provided the user knows). Use Case: Use of opensc cards for system authentication, ssh authentication, secure storage of gpg-keys, maybe even LUKS encrypted partitions. Possibility of users to maintain good crypto-practice also when not having an openSUSE system under hand (because the key and the encryption can take place in the hardware). Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: Because fraud, password vocabulary attacks and the need of confidential conversation do matter, be it in our societal structure (fraud, spam) as well as in settings with less assuring environment (in some countries it can be literally life saving having a good cryptographic infrastructure). The typical user may not be a "crack" when using this material, so out of the box support will be a real promoting factor for save practice, keeping the barriers to this technique low. Secondly, as this is opensource-hardware it would be also a good step if one wants to "walk the talk" and support openhardware efforts. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/315091
