[New: openFATE 323836] enable/disable 64bit checkbox during installation file system formatting options
Feature added by: Felix Miata (mrmazda) Feature #323836, revision 1 Title: enable/disable 64bit checkbox during installation file system formatting options openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Felix Miata (mrmazda) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Upstream in May 2016, 64bit feature was enabled by default for EXT4 filesystem creation. The yast2-storage function provides no ability to disable 64 bit (nor apply any arbitrary formatting option not among those listed in the "File System Options" window). The only way currently to avoid 64bit is to ensure installation targets are both created and formatted prior to startup of the installation partitioner. A checkbox to disable 64bit among the other formatting options during installation would be helpful and appreciated. It should easily fit, as the window I opened on a 1024x768 screen was only 491px tall and yet had empty space where at least two additional checkboxes would logically fit without enlarging the window or rearranging its current content. Use Case: 64bit breaks backward compatibility desirable in multiboot installations. Older installations' EXT4 drivers and bootloader versions do not support 64bit, preventing them from chainloading to, booting and/or mounting them, a like shortcoming of the default BTRFS filesystem that is a substantial reason to prefer EXT4 for multiboot installation targets. Also, multiboot installations are less likely to employ huge filesystem sizes that make 64bit desirable, and more likely to employ modest sized installation targets. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/323836

If no 32bit partitions/libraries exist, default to 64bit. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/323836
