[openFATE 306665] KVM reaches supported status
Feature added by: Bruce Rogers (bfrogers) Feature #306665, revision 1 Title: KVM reaches supported status Requested by: Bruce Rogers (bfrogers) Description: KVM currently has an unsupported status in SLE 11. I propose we move it to a supported status for SP1 by taking the following actions: - incorporating the latest stable release of kvm userspace and kernel-module (kvm) which coincides with the SLE11 SP1 development cycle - ensuring that the "in-box" virtualization related tools and infrastructure which today support Xen virtualization be also made to support KVM. This would include YaST virtualization features, libvirt, virt-manager, virt-viewer, vm-install, ... - providing adequate testing early in the release cycle to verify stability, hardware compatability, and expected functionality - supporting only x86_64 host - support the following guests (list mirrors Xen supported guest list with the exception of NetWare being dropped): SLES 9 SP4, SLES 10 SP2 (SP3), SLES 11 (SP1), RHEL4, RHEL5, Windos XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Server 2008 As noted above NetWare support is not indicated. If this support is needed, a concerted effort would be required, since it does not appear to work correctly with current kvm versions. PM would need to review the list of expected guests to be supported. The above list is a starting point for discussion. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306665
