[New: openFATE 310637] Audio Packages for Second Life Features
Feature added by: Donald Tosaw (dontosaw) Feature #310637, revision 1 Title: Audio Packages for Second Life Features Package Wishlist: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Donald Tosaw (dontosaw) Description: I have a dual boot system, with openSuse with Gnome installed on a RAID mirror and Windows 7 installed on a separate drive. I participate in the Second Life virtual world and I'm now able to login and utilize all of the audio features, including voice chat, background sounds, gestures and streaming music. However, I had great difficulty getting these features working. The trick was getting the right combination of compatible audio packages installed. At first, I tried to get everything working with openSuse 11.3 with KDE. At first I could hear background sounds and gestures, but voice wasn't working. When I finally got voice working, I could no longer hear gestures or other environmental sounds. When I resinstalled 11.3 with Gnome instead of KDE, voice worked fine, but the other audio features (gestures, etc.) didn't work at all. Finally searched for and installed some additional audio packages using YAST and all the audio features work. Would be nice to have needed packages included in the basic install package for both Gnome and KDE. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Voice/Linux_Sound_Settings (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Voice/Linux_Sound_Settings) Thanks, Don -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/310637
