[New: openFATE 318084] Please add YaST feature to disable/enable viewing of other users' /home director
Feature added by: Rahim Barbamas (rahim123) Feature #318084, revision 1 Title: Please add YaST feature to disable/enable viewing of other users' /home director Requested by: Rahim Barbamas (rahim123) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Hello, I noticed that openSUSE's default configuration allows users to view others' /home directories. I understand that this is a default setting that some users might want, but others won't want it. Would it be possible to add an option to the "Security and Hardening" section of YaST to restrict read access to /home directories aside from your own? There is currently some functionality to this respect in the YaST module "Users -> Defaults For New Users", which allows setting the UMASK value. However, this setting only applies to new user accounts, not retroactively. And also it would be better to have a user-friendly way (checkbox or menu) of allowing or disallowing access to /home directories without learning the Unix permissions numbering system. Thanks for considering this! -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/318084
