For JeOS, CaaSP and similar minimal installations, the customer requirements are "less than 500MB". binutils is already 36MB and most - of it is not needed on a normal server installation. + of it is not needed on a normal server installation. So we should find + a better solution for this problem or rethink, if we really need to + strip kernel modules. + Which leads to another question: why do we ship unstripped kernel + modules, if we strip them afterwards anyways? Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: More and more partners and customers require a minimal Host OS less than 500MB, currently we are at 800MB, so removing binutils would make already 10%.
