The TV setup part should be pretty straight forward as DVB cards "only" need a driver and dvbscan to be run, no need to fiddle with the soundcard for instance. Also the LIRC part could be improved as well to detect recivers and remotes. Both steps otherwise require manual setup because the automatic detection with udev/hal is not setup at all for TV cards.
