[New: openFATE 321609] ALSA default sound card selector

Feature added by: Michal Suchanek (michals) Feature #321609, revision 1 Title: ALSA default sound card selector openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Michal Suchanek (michals) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: I was trying to install OpenSUSE on a few laptops recently and one of the things that works really poorly and can be fixed quite easily is sound support. On two laptops with HDMI output the default sound card selected by ALSA was the HDMI. THis is not always wrong but it was in this case. I got no sound and volume applet would not start because the HDMI 'card' has no controls. Yast has some sound configuration buried somewhere. You can configure your card order there but ALSA still insists on using the HDMI output as primary. Not sure if that is a bug or a feature. After reviewing ALSA topic on the Arch wiki I was able to set up my sound card. However, this involves a lot of manual work that should be easily scriptable. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Advanced_Linux_Sound_Architecture#Set_t... -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/321609
