Feature changed by: Sebastian Wagner (sebix) Feature #310701, revision 8 Title: package byobu in an opensuse repository Package Wishlist: Evaluation by engineering manager Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Divan Santana (divansantana7) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Would be great if anyone using opensuse could zypper in byobu . Unfortunately it's not in any opensuse repo despite it being a great tool for administrating linux servers. I'm quite surprised this isn't already available for opensuse. Would be a nice addition for 11.4 Discussion: #1: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2010-11-09 12:00:09) Please provide an URL and tell us what exactly would be the benefits of it. #2: Divan Santana (divansantana7) (2010-11-10 21:03:37) (reply to #1) https://launchpad.net/byobu I'm sure some searching on the net will say more regarding the benefits but basically it's great as a default screen profile esp for servers. As a screen profile by default, it says what the server OS is exactly, how many security/non-security updates are available, what the current load is, mem, disk, etc. So immediately when you are working on a server(not just on login) you can view all this information. It's very handy. It's although basically screen made easier for newbies, kinda like nano vs vim. #3: Christ Schlacta (aarcane) (2013-07-25 21:59:12) I'm trying to migrate from ubuntu, and the lack of a packaged byobu may be a deal breaker. It's a super useful screen and tmux enhancement and I'm VERY fond of it, nearly dependent. I'd definitely like to +1 this feature request. #4: Christ Schlacta (aarcane) (2013-07-26 02:07:28) (reply to #3) Wanting to give opensuse a genuine test and not having time to wait for somebody else, I have created a build for this, located here: http://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3Aaarcane&package=byobu I'd far prefer if some more experienced maintainer take up the chore, as I'm not even sure I'll stick with opensuse at this point, but there's the initial groundwork at least. + #5: Sebastian Wagner (sebix) (2019-01-27 18:16:51) + It exists: https://software.opensuse.org/package/byobu -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/310701
