Feature changed by: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) Feature #313861, revision 4 Title: Drop Gnome3.x support - openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed + openSUSE Distribution: Rejected by Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) + reject date: 2012-08-28 13:20:09 + reject reason: negative votes and your assumption that this reduces + maintainence is not valid. Priority Requester: Important Requested by: saulo aldighieri moraes (saul0) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Gnome 3 is losing the audience and most of OpenSuse users are using KDE. So removing Gnome3 desktop packages like gnome-shell, gnome-panel, metacity, etc (not apps like evolution, gimp..) from default distro repo will reduce work in maintenance. But Gnome can stay in a separate repo supported by Gnome contributors. Discussion: #1: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) (2012-08-02 00:35:58) I see absolutely zero reason to have GNOME - or any other package(s) - dropped from the oss repo based solely on "high maintenance" costs. If the GNOME package maintainers do not want to do updates, they can just leave the package as-is. There is no win in making life harder for those wanting it by having them to add yet another repo. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/313861
