Feature changed by: Gerald Pfeifer (GeraldPfeifer) Feature #312268, revision 4 Title: LibreOffice: split l10n-extras into required and optional packages Requested by: Petr Mladek (pmladek) Product Manager: (Novell) Project Manager: (Novell) Engineering Manager: (Novell) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: The size of libreoffice-l10n-extras package is 15MB. Only about 5MB is important to run LO. The rest could be moved to an optional package. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: Live CDs helps to promote SUSE products. This change would help to put more interesting stuff on it. Discussion: #1: Petr Mladek (pmladek) (2011-04-20 17:34:31) Analyze Important things: * /usr/share/libreoffice/LICENSE.odt - main file describing the license (yes, the installation is far from FHS) * /usr/share/libreoffice/basis3.3/presets - is the basic structure for the default user configuration * /usr/share/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/fonts/truetype/opens___.ttf - font with math symbols * /usr/share/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/config/wizard - common stuff for wizards (letter, fax, ...) Optional stuff and change proposal: * /usr/share/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/gallery - split into separate optional package [5.2MB] * /usr/share/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/template/layout - move to the optional libreoffice-templates-layout [7.5MB] * /usr/share/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/template/wizard/letter - move to optional l10n-lang packages [6MB] * /usr/share/libreoffice/basis3.3/share/autocorr - split into extra optional package or per language [2MB] We would end with 4.7MB of required stuf.f Note that part of the wizard stuff would stay on the Live CD inside the l10n-lang packages [250kB per language]. + #2: Gerald Pfeifer (geraldpfeifer) (2011-06-08 18:18:59) + That sounds like a generally beneficial change. As for priority, it's + somewhat of a "weaker Important" compared to some others. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/312268
