Feature changed by: Sławomir Lach (Lachu) Feature #317297, revision 6 Title: Notify users if new version of openSUSE is released openSUSE Distribution: New Priority Requester: Important Requested by: John Shand (jshand2013) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: The idea is that when a new stable release is released, it will give the user a message asking them if they would like to upgrade their system to the newer version. Discussion: #1: Sławomir Lach (lachu) (2014-05-31 14:14:36) This shouldn't be handled by Yast/Yast2, but separated program. #2: John Shand (jshand2013) (2014-06-01 03:32:51) (reply to #1) hey thanks for replying. Yeah YaST2 isn't the right choice. just wondering if Apper could be the answer? + #3: Sławomir Lach (lachu) (2016-12-06 17:06:54) (reply to #2) + As far as I know, it's not possible to realize this idea introducing + Yast. Reason is simple. Yast requires root access. The idea of + distribution upgrade should be handled by PackageKit and there's should + exist backends for GNOME3/Plasma5/etc. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/317297
