On my HPE-311 desktop, I had 3 entries, for 3 windows partitions. The latter being the recovery partition, labelled "windows 3". Booting this one led to a lost GRUB and Windows starting alone, even when nothing was restored (I simply quitted the application) In such situation, but also in many others, it's advisable for the user to comment out the menu entry, just in case it become usefull some day. This mean only adding "#" in front of some lines, but this is not possible simply in YaST. One have to go to the internal editor (or use any editor of it's own) to add the "#". It would be very easy to add an option "comment out the menu entry". This could make it easier for the forum moderators to answer questions to users. Now you can only remove the entry completely. Discussion: #1: Jean-Daniel Dodin (jdd) (2010-11-16 17:45:39) I speak of GRUB menu.lst entries (I don't see how to edit the title) #2: hippolyte Yenamarre (please_try_again) (2010-11-21 10:22:31) I never use YaST for that (normally use my own scripts to generate boot entries and add them to /boot/grub/menu.lst). So I launched YaST- probably be helpful to some people, not necessarely because of that Windows problem but more generally. Also you might take a look on that redondant other bug (more likely in zypper) which is not as dangerous but absolutely annoying: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/install-boot-login/448225-g... + #3: Rajko Matovic (rajko_m) (2010-11-29 06:20:30) + Instead of asking user to disable certain menu entries it would be + better to make sure that rescue partitions are never listed. + Users that can't use editor and comment out entries in menu.lst are + probably even lesser able to handle YaST Boot Loader, and more + important they probably have no idea which partition has to be removed + from grub menu. It is also very likely that they will not install any + Linux after one incident where it disappears in unknown direction. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/310836
