Feature changed by: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) Feature #308278, revision 6 Title: openSUSE DomU PV/PVGRUB support for XEN and Citrix XenServer openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Mandatory Requested by: Matt Sealey (mwsealey) Description: Running Citrix XenServer or Xen Dom0 from openSUSE 11.2 is all well and good but the support for the kernel in DomU is not that great; Citrix for example provide a kernel and DVD for Debian specifically designed for DomU operation, and there are templates for installing Debian Lenny using PV-GRUB. As far as I can see this is simply not implemented in openSUSE so the support for the client Linux OS is really not as great as it could be. Is there any plan for support for this? There should be! Xen is not just about running a system capable of virtualization but running a system inside the virtualization... Discussion: #1: John Terpstra (janhct) (2010-05-27 17:45:34) Working with a site that uses OpenSUSE clients in a clustered environment. Recently purchases several large new servers to replace a rack of individual machines. They decided to use Citrix XenServer and now want to migrate the OpenSUSE clients to XenServer. Lack of support for OpenSUSE 11.2 as a PV guest OS in XenServer is a total blocker for them. They will need to move to a supported PV guest client platform. + #2: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) (2010-05-28 12:30:44) (reply to #1) + What exactly is missing ATM? There are working 2.6.31+2.6.33 Xen + kernels available for openSUSE. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/308278
