Feature changed by: Drew Adams (Druonysus) Feature #313232, revision 3 Title: SUSE YaST Module for Salt openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Drew Adams (druonysus) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: I think that a YaST module to Salt (saltstack.org), remote administration and configuration management tool would be a helpful tool to have available in openSUSE. Salt is very powerful tool but is only available via the CLA... I think that it would really help openSUSE to bring that power to the users of our system. Personally, I think that having a WebYaST UI would be the most powerful. Features I could see as being useful via a YaST Module: * Sowing a list of the Minions the Master is connected to (selectable list). * Accessing some common functions such as adding users and groups to selected list of minions * Request/approve/reject security keys. That is just off the top of my head. I know I could come up with more as I get to know Salt a bit better. The feature request I made to the Salt community: https://github.com/saltstack/salt/issues/708 - there is interest in doing this and it has been slated for 2.0.0 of Salt. Help from anyone interested in helping from within the openSUSE community would be greatly appreciated. + Relations: + - Feature request on GitHub (url: + https://github.com/saltstack/salt/issues/708) + - Salt's Home Page (feature/duplicate: www.SaltStack.org) Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: * Bring the POWER of remote administration and configuration management to a broader audience * Make openSUSE the easiest Linux to deploy remote administration and configuration management on. * Make openSUSE the distro of choice for people and companies who are deploying Salt in their infrastructure. * Help make openSUSE the distro of choice for the Salt community. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/313232
