Feature changed by: Siegfried Olschner (sdolschn) Feature #305807, revision 8 Title: Make cleanup in applications and Control Center openSUSE-11.2: Evaluation Priority Requester: Important Info Provider: Piotrek Juzwiak (benderbendingrodriguez) Requested by: Piotrek Juzwiak (benderbendingrodriguez) Description: What i find every time very irritating is the idea behind Control Center and applications. It should be clearly differed. After a clean install there are too many configuration tools in the applications browser what makes it difficult to browse (despite having an option to search, of course if You know what You are searching for). Not everyone knows how to clean everything up, in my example most configuration tools are in the Control Center what makes A LOT more room for applications in Application Browser what makes it easier to browse for apps. SO: make a clear distinction of what is a configuration tool and what is an application. Discussion: #1: Michael Löffler (michl19) (2009-06-05 15:39:22) Sigi, that's a clear usability thing. Can you comment on it and give us a hint about ressources needed. #2: Siegfried Olschner (sdolschn) (2009-06-05 16:07:30) Sorry, but what do you mean with "appliactions browser"? The "Appliactions" tab in the KDE start menu? And do you mean the KDE "System Settings" dialog when you talk about the "Control Center"? #3: Siegfried Olschner (sdolschn) (2009-06-05 16:11:27) Ah, I got it, it's Gnome related. + #4: Siegfried Olschner (sdolschn) (2009-06-05 16:25:04) + My first comment: The current design is based on a SLED base -- with + less appliactions and configuration tools. The openSUSE base will + really strech this concept (e.g. the "System" section in my Gnome shows + 61 items and many of them are configuration tools.) -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/305807
