Feature changed by: Karl Cheng (qantas94heavy) Feature #312137, revision 5 Title: Equivalent of nvidia-settings for Nouveau - openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed + openSUSE Distribution: Rejected by Karl Cheng (qantas94heavy) + reject reason: This does not need a separate tool just for Nouveau. Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Audard Guillaume (agui) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: The open source driver for Nvidia GPU, Nouveau, is more and more performant. It is already fully usable instead of the proprietary driver. However, there is no GUI to configure display. SaX2 module is not available anymore in YaST in openSUSE 11.4, and there is no way to make modifications such as defining the dpi. Developping an equivalent of nvidia-settings for Nouveau would push even more users to switch to open source drivers. Discussion: #1: Jimmy Berry (boombatower) (2011-03-28 22:41:56) What about KDE's display setting module? I would assume Gnome has something similar? Or randr? #2: Tim Edwards (tk83) (2011-04-04 13:33:07) (reply to #1) Exactly, I thought that the KDE "Display and Monitor" tool was supposed to configure graphics on machines which use Nouveau, I used it on mine and it's fine. The last thing we need is more distribution- or driver-specific config tools. If the KDE "Display and Monitor" tool (or it's GNOME equivalent) is not up to the task then the feature request should be to improve those, not start from scratch. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/312137
