Feature added by: Sławomir Lach (Lachu) Feature #310995, revision 1 Title: [Bash] Signing scripts. openSUSE-11.4: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Sławomir Lach (lachu) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Actually many distribution force scripts to have x privileges set. In KDE it will appear a dialog, when user try to run Desktop/Executable file. I think, that we should also add a way to write checksums and fingerprints to scripts/executables. User won't allow to run command if vendor are untrusted. Use Case: Mathew is a young person, who gets licenses for a programs from local market. He never trust seller, so he always look at vendor's page and compare checksums and fingerprint. Patric is a old men, who downloads freeware and other free in price software from internet. He always checks on fingerprints. George is an system admin in big company. He helps employers by sending bash scripts. To protect company from running script writing by social engineers, he signing each scripts. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: Big company would use this. Many companies have employed IT man, so signing a software could be a great way to be more secure. Many companies would use this - we can for example sign each script published on OpenSUSE forums, to ensure users that's not virus, but real solution on her problems. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/310995
