Feature changed by: Mariusz Fik (Fisiu) Feature #317716, revision 4 Title: Make Source Sans Pro default font openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Sharque uddin Ahmed Farooqui (safknw) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Adobe some time back release 2 new fonts as open source fonts, Source Sans Pro and Source Code Pro. Both of them are very beautiful, I use them as default font for about a year. Source code pro is the BEST for text editor, terminal and IDEs. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: I believe we must make Source Sans Pro as default san sarif font, as it will make it more pleasing and easy to read. Using Source Code Pro for terminals and text editor will improve readability and reduce strain on eyes. Discussion: #1: Richard Brown (rbrownccb) (2014-06-19 17:49:42) Downvoting because the fonts appear to be roman only I'm not opposed to replacing the default font in openSUSE, but the absolute minimum criteria any replacement must fulfill is 1. Does it look nice? (I think these fonts do) and 2. Does it work in every language that openSUSE supports? + #2: Mariusz Fik (fisiu) (2014-06-19 18:09:45) + Those fonts (adobe-sourcecodepro-fonts, adobe-sourcesanspro-fonts) are + already in main repository. If someone wants to make them default, just + please use desktop tool to do so. Don't force all users to use adobe + source family font as main desktop font. Beside that, Gnome uses own + Cantarell font as default, Plasma Next is targeting Oxygen font as + default one. + My personal choice for default desktop font is Liberation family. But + I'm not yelling that Liberation should be default for all of You ;-) As + long as it's available in main repository and desktop tools allow me to + change font, I'm happy with it. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/317716
