Feature changed by: Kevin Dupuy (kdupuy9) Feature #306102, revision 5 Title: add computer name in the automatic configuration install openSUSE-11.2: Evaluation Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Alin M Elena (ealin) Description: It may be very useful if the user can change the name of the computer even if is in Automatic configuration during the installation. Reason why? All other major OS let you do that. ubuntu and fedora do it too. Alin PS This issue was discussed here too https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478602 Unfortunately the person who closed it was not open to discussions. Discussion: #1: David Montero Isusi (davmont) (2009-03-09 00:12:57) at least set a "standard" hostname (as in debian, its debian), and not that linux-"whatever" stuff I find it "useful", because if its set under that "random name", you have to change it "manually"... would be fine finding the option during installation + #2: Kevin Dupuy (kdupuy9) (2009-03-26 00:46:13) + Also, in GNOME, the login screen references the computer name right on + top. So having something set by the user would be desirable, preferably + at the same time as they are setting up the user account, ask "What is + the computer's name?". Mac OS X, Vista, Windows 7, and every Linux OS I + know of does that, no reason why we can't. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306102
