Feature changed by: Krasimir Ivanov (kivanov) Feature #312680, revision 2 Title: Free professional CAD CAM solution Package Wishlist: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Mandatory Requested by: Krasimir Ivanov (kivanov) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: I tested all available in SUSE repositories CAD CAM solutions but no one of them is enough good. Searching for sulution elsewhere I found the 'DraftSight: The Free CAD software for your DWG files'. This is a product of Dasault Systems and is free for single user use. The Linux version of the software looks very professional and I found it working perfectly. So please if possible contact them and agree to make possible to provide from Yast their free Linux version. This software will be the really useful fully functional free native Linux CAD CAM solution for SUSE. Use Case: This is the perfect solution for students, engineers and many other who need to use technical drawings. In the real life we found many cases where we need to open, print and in some cases change/edit little bit a technical draft drawing. Unfortunately most of the cases people use the AutoCAD *.dwg and alyke file formats. Business case (Partner benefit): - openSUSE.org: Since the time of KDE 3 when the qcad somehow did the - job, now we do not have no any good draftig solution in openSUSE. But - today almost no one uses only the open *.dxf format, so we need a free - solution for *.DWG and *.DXF files In the real life there are plenty of - cases where is far too expensive to buy AutoCAD just to be able to open - few drawings for confirmation purposes. Also there are many SUSE users - who are in need for such solution. + openSUSE.org: Since the time of KDE 3 when the Qcad somehow did the + job, now we do not have any good technical draftig solution in + openSUSE.
