Feature changed by: Robert Davies (robopensuse) Feature #312628, revision 8 Title: openSUSE Linux 12.1: Increased variety of packages, all packages... openSUSE Distribution: Rejected by Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) reject reason: see comments Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Genix Info (genixinfo) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: openSUSE Linux 12.1: Increased variety of packages, all packages in the system and all repositories (official and unofficial) stable and updated. Discussion: #1: Genix Info (genixinfo) (2011-07-12 23:09:34) See this link: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/pre-release-beta/... (http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/pre-release-beta/...) #2: Genix Info (genixinfo) (2011-07-13 06:17:10) Complement: openSUSE Linux 12.1: Greater variety of packages, all packages in the system and all the repositories (official and unofficial) has to be always stable and updated. #4: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) (2011-07-17 15:45:26) (reply to #2) Submit them to openSUSE:Factory. #5: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2011-07-19 09:07:53) (reply to #2) If you miss anything, then take over maintainership and push them. A generic request like this is not helpful. #3: Robert Davies (robopensuse) (2011-07-13 09:48:37) How can openSUSE be responsible for "unofficial" repos? The quality & qauantity requirments conflict, given finite resources. One of the packages requested (wvdial) is present in the OSS repo. #6: Genix Info (genixinfo) (2011-07-20 05:42:41) The issue has been resolved WvDial: https://features.opensuse.org/312580 (312580) In the case of unofficial repositories, I refer to repositories Packman (http://packman.links2linux.de/) and openSUSE-Guide.org (http://opensuse-guide.org/) . In Packman has some outdated packages, like this: openFATE: https://features.opensuse.org/310166 (310166) Forum: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/other-forums/forums-feedback/forums-comme... (http://forums.opensuse.org/english/other-forums/forums-feedback/forums-comme...) These unofficial repositories are linked to the project openSUSE Linux. In the case of the official repositories, has this question: https://features.opensuse.org/312618 (312618) + #7: Robert Davies (robopensuse) (2011-07-20 12:05:03) (reply to #6) + Packman and openSUSE-guide contain packages that are not distributable + by openSUSE.org for legal reasons. Therefore the project CANNOT be + responsibile for those "Community" repos, they are independant of the + project but offering a service to openSUSE (& other distro) end users. + This is similar issue to the "codecs", which lead to rejection of + another of the Requesters FATE submissions. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/312628
