Feature changed by: Klaas Freitag (kfreitag) Feature #306273, revision 12 Title: send email notification to infoprovider openFATE: Evaluation Priority Requester: Important + Projectmanager: Mandatory Requested by: Michael Löffler (michl19) Description: If someone is set a infoprovider for a feature he/she can see this only through checking a feature once in a while or by following the opensuse- features mailing list. This not efficient and will in many cases result in no information by the infoprovider as he/she never get knowledge that some information is requested. Use Case: Someone created a feature but information is missing. If he/she can be informed by an email that there is some information missing the feature handling will improve a lot. Discussion: #1: Thomas Schmidt (digitaltomm) (2009-03-30 15:18:14) Notifications are done by hermes now. Every user who wants to get notified of feature changes to "his" features (feature that list him in any role), has to subscribe on http://hermes.opensuse.org . The real request I see here is to set community people as "infoprovider" (already listed on the screening team wishlist at http://en.opensuse.org/OpenFATE/Screening_team ). #2: Andre Duffeck (aduffeck) (2009-03-31 08:49:38) It's also important that certain roles (such as infoprovider) are notified although they have not subscribed with hermes, yet. It spoils the purpose of external infoproviders otherwise, imo, because many of them will not be notified. #3: Klaas Freitag (kfreitag) (2009-03-31 09:44:15) (reply to #2) That's true, but OTOH we really do not want to spam people who do not want that. So I would vote for only sending notifications to people who have somehow said that they want that. That might mean that we can not notify an infoprovider, thats true. But can we show the person, who sets the infoprovider, that the one has not yet signed up for hermes? #4: Andre Duffeck (aduffeck) (2009-03-31 10:09:32) (reply to #3) What about sending a friendly mail on the first notification then, telling that there are openFATE notifications queued for this email adress and if the user wants to read them he/she should subscribe with hermes. If that mail is ignored no further mails would be sent. #5: Klaas Freitag (kfreitag) (2009-05-08 15:29:08) (reply to #4) That is a great idea. I vote for implementing it this way. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306273
