[opensuse-factory] Plasma5 freeze at startup - Tumbleweed 20151115
Anyone else seeing this? After login ( both on updated and on fresh installed Tumbleweed, both in existing and new user account ) the Plasma5 desktop freezes for ~1 minute. I've checked the logs but cannot find anything pointing to the culprit. On the test-install I dupper from the Frameworks5 Factory repo, issue no longer exists. -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. same to me, I also added the Frameworks5 Factory repo and the issue was gone. -- Jabber: robby81@jabber.de -- Vertrauliche Kommunikation ist die Basis der Demokratie! Yes. The applications get started though and I can switch among the virtual desktops. But the panel, background and widgets only materialize after some time.

Hmm. I'm still running KDE4, so the real reason should be somewhere else, I'd think. I'm not seeing anything obvious in the logs as well. I have similar "freezes" caused by kwin crashing and trying to display drkonqui which is impossible at the moment. So far it seems to be a bug in Qt, reported as https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-49410 Apparently a workaround is to use the "breeze" window decorations. Another option is to make KDE start with KDE_DEBUG variable set to 1, then drkonqui is not started and kwin is restarted immediatelly (but you lose window positioning from your saved session, for instance). I'm not sure if your problem is the same, I never had the patience to wait if drkonqui finally gives up and session init continues. You can try switching to a text console, checking there is a a drkonqui process and (if there is) kill it. If that unblocks the session start, it might be the same issue.
