libvpl-tools package missing
Hi List Looks like "libvpl-tools" with especially "vpl-inspect" is not available for openSUSE. Is it possible to get it added? https://github.com/intel/libvpl-tools https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/developer/articles/technical/overvie... Thanks, Terje J. Hanssen

Thanks, but could you add a Slowroll version?

Question should be: "Shouldn't we add Slowroll as a build target for X11:XOrg, too?" instead of building the package in a local branch project?
Regards.

I will vote for that ;) We have already obs:multimedial:ibs and :apps and Packman repos for Slowroll. So if possible, I would be happy to see Slowroll beside Tumbleweed and Leap on every opensuse download page! Terje J. Hanssen

I also tried to add the LP 15.6 repo (on LP 15.6) and install libvpl-tools from there, but got the same dependice error.

First of all, you should only use the repo corresponding to your version of opensuse. do not mix repos, this could lead in a broken system. IF you must try to run a program from a other version, you should download only that rpm and install it without adding a repo, this will minimize the posibility of killing your system. 2) this leads now in a user question and has not to be discussed on this list. 3) i looked only for you to find repo. 4) do only write to the list, not list+private or, if it leads in a private discussion only private (but not all people answer or like it.) 5) try in a konsole: > opi libcttmetrics result is X11:XOrg and you could install the repo then. OR: https://software.opensuse.org/ and there in the search field libcttmetrics and at the setup of the search you should check development packages 6) if you like to continue this discussion, please switch to users@lists.opensuse.org or support@lists.opensuse.org (see point 2) simoN -- www.becherer.de

The way I see it, project repositories should not be used as download sources, too many library mismatches are possible. Just try it and if it works it will be submitted to Factory, from where it will eventually trickle down to Slowroll. If anything, I'm having second thoughts about that Fedora patch setting a made up soversion...

Ok, thanks. I want to install it - to try it. And it shouldn't be difficult at all, but seemingly ends up in a cross dependency between libvpl-tools and libcttmetrics (And just clarify a possible misunderstanding: my previous addon-test with the LP 15.6 repo, was on LP 15.6 - not on Slowroll) The following three steps are continues on Slowroll. 1) The actual https:// repo is enabled as follows: zypper lr 4 Alias : openSUSE_Slowroll_2 Name : openSUSE_Slowroll URI : https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/alois:/branches:/X11:/XOrg/... My mistake, sorry about that. Should be working now. For any other user question, please don't reply to this thread, but write to me in private. Regards

Yes, thanks. Then the packages version of today, 11.10.2024, installed ok. A test-run with two of the tools, 'vpl-inspect' and 'system_analyzer' work seemingly well. Is it possible to supplement Slowroll to the repo main page in the future? https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XOrg/
