I can confirm this for this system with Leap 42.1. My shortcut cntrl+N points to Nirvana in settings, but it works as expected if the focus is on kmail4 (here I have still kmail4). So I would guess it is the famous "it's not a bug, it's a feature"? Maybe it is by default attributed in kmail by the application and goes into conflict if set separately inside plasma?

And is Nirvana a KDE4/Qt4 application ?? If yes, then it would be logical that this might work between two KDE4 applications ? But Kmail5 is a Plasma5/ Frameworks based application, which means that both KDE4 and Plasma5 are fighting over the same shortcut, which would end up in the conflict.

Oops, no, I should have been more explicit: Wikipedia: In the Buddhist context, nirvana refers to the imperturbable stillness of mind after the fires of desire, aversion, and delusion have been finally extinguished. As to say I used it improperly (and a bit sloppily) to say the link points to the nothing. Besides, I would love to have an application called nirvana (I do not know if it exists, but I find it a perfect name for a file system cleaning application, nice idea).
