It can be done, if first upgrading all packages from everything in package groups. Solver asks to drop the old system. After this has been done, and you are still able to connect: Install updateFactory Yast2 package, or use #zypper dup Using ifup instead of networkmanager wil give a working connection. (be aware of unusable sax2 in A2, in some cases it is possible to correct xorg.conf manualy, and not touch sax2 afterwards, as it will totaly screw up your config.) This is pretty much untested right now, but you're free to try and report bugs. Well, it was not that hard ;-) After fixing inst-sys (since otherwise it is not possible to use the update proposal and if there was a dependency conflict, it was not possible to continue - known already fixed bug) the upgrade went smoothly. The fun came afterwards - all users from /etc/passwd were lost - some packages (eg. pam_mount) were missing (had to take them from factory and then had really fun with my encrypted home) - networkmanager doesn't work for me (dhcpcd is my friend :-) ) - /etc/init.d/kbd manages to freeze boot (I removed it from init scripts) anyway, as you see, I can work again :-) Jiri -- Regards, Jiri Srain YaST Team Leader --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: jsrain@suse.cz Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 959 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz

(why is that?) Ah! and that must have been the reason my 10.3 install did not get the kdeconf after login in!
