[opensuse-factory] accepting a package in Factory
Hello, I want to put the package autokey into Tumbleweed. But according to Greg autokey is not accepted in Factory. I have made a SR for this package to x11:common Factory which is accepted. Which steps do I have to take to get this package accepted ? The process is home repo ==> devel repo ==> factory repo ==> released in 11.4 (etc.) x11:common:Factory is a devel repo, you need to submit from there to the actual factory repo. I guess for new packages a "legal review" step is missing. Maybe we need the OBS to manage/show/notify this. I think it's pretty common that people try to commit new packages to Factory - but they end up waiting for weeks and weeks before the request is accepted, and they have no idea what's going on. They probably feel that their contribution is not valued. So at least people should be notified "your SR of a new package is undergoing legal review, this usually takes 3-6 years" or similar. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Actually this is implemented in the build service (not really good, but it is), but the legal review workflow is not yet adapted to it. And yes, it's very frustrating. And no, it's not 3-6 years. Actually Ciaran and co review about a dozen packages a week, just huge, complex packages take a while.
