[opensuse-factory] khotkeys 5 - new custom shortcuts not working
Hi *, I have a (new) problem with custom shortcuts in KDE 5. I can create new custom shortcuts, but they don't work, i.e. nothing happens when the defined keys are pressed. All existing custom shortcuts are still working. I don't know exactly, which Tumbleweed snapshot caused this problem, because I could create working shortcuts for some time. At the moment I use a system with the latest snapshot. I checked the files khotkeysrc and kglobalshortcutsrc and both of them look as I would expect them. I compared the working entries with those not working and can see no difference. The contents of these files survive logoff or reboot, so this is not the problem some people described in a few variations in the past. Any hint for this problem? Thx. Bye. You mean systemsettings5->Shortcuts->Custom Shortcuts? Hm, that works fine here on 13.2 (with the latest packages from the KDE:Qt5 and KDE:Frameworks5 repos), and also in a Tumbleweed VM. Did you actually activate your newly created shortcuts? They are disabled by default when you create them. You might have missed the checkbox, it is hidden with the default window size (here at least), you need to enlarge/maximize the window or use the scrollbar to see it. Also note that the breeze theme can be a bit misleading in that case. If the entry is selected, it might look like the checkbox is activated although it isn't. I did notice one problem on Tumbleweed though, which made me think at first that it doesn't work indeed: I set Ctrl+Y as shortcut, but pressing that had no effect. I had to press Ctrl+Z instead to activate the configured action... (I'm using a german keyboard layout, so Y and Z are swapped compared to the US layout) I don't have this problem in 13.2 though, so if it's a bug in Qt or KDE, it should be fixed already in the latest versions. Exactly.

I activated the shortcut by clicking the checkbox near the name of the shortcut and I clicked "Apply" at the bottom of the right pane. Isn't that enough? As for the checkox near the name it looks exactly as the working shortcuts above the new ones.

I also use a German keyboard layout, but the shortcut is "Ctrl-Alt-O" for example, so that shouldn't matter.
I don't have this problem in 13.2 though, so if it's a bug in Qt or KDE, it should be fixed already in the latest versions.

Hi again, just as a side note: Shortcuts - even with the same commands - work as expected from the start menu!
