[opensuse-factory] internet name resolution broken after tumbleweed update

I am running Tumbleweed 20160927. After doing that update, resolving names seems not to be working. No names get resolved (unless they are in /etc/hosts). The NIC is started in KDE when I log in. It is not using the traditional method. I see that /etc/resolv.conf only contains one line: # Generated by NetworkManager. This file has not been updated since Sept 29. Probably before I updated to 20160927. Sounds like something in the update led to this file no longer being updated with the DNS resolver obtained via DHCP. There is a file called /etc/resolv.conf.netconfig that looks correct. But is this file read when resolving a name? If I copy /etc/resolv.conf.netconfig to /etc/resolv.conf resolution works again. Something is confused. But I don't know what that might be. -- Roger Oberholtzer -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Deleting /etc/resolv.conf and then logging out/in did the trick. I recall this problem from many years ago when the KDE network stuff was new. I was tempted to do that at the start. But I thought this could not be the solution again. On Mon, Oct 3, 2016 at 4:37 PM, Markos Chandras <mchandras@suse.de> wrote:
