[opensuse-factory] [TW] cpan shell is broken w/ perl-5.28.1
Looks like the problem is the perl-TermReadLine-Gnu package. Uninstalled it and cpan client works fine again. Probably it's due to the fact that we currently have readline v7 while the perl Term::ReadLine::Gnu module is v1.20 back from *2010* ?!! readline-7.0 support was added in v1.35 in 2016 and current ist v1.36 from 4 days ago including support for readline-8.0. So the perl-TermReadLine-Gnu seriously needs an update! Best - Heiko

Hi Heiko, thanks for your message. It was already stated in this mailing liste, there's very few chances that mail will make any changes soon. The best (mostly the unique one) things to do is to open a bug report on https://bugzilla.opensuse.org with a complete description of the problem, what you've seen with an updated version. That's a first real step for contributing. A first search at https://obs.opensuse.org for perl-TermReadLine-Gnu will help you to find where this package is maintained https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/devel:languages:perl/perl-TermReadLi... There's a nice button report bug on the webui, which will help to report correctly against the right component on boo. As there's plain email into that link I will not publish it here. With those simple steps, you make a real contribution, and shortly you can expect a change (or a real reason why not) Want more help, then a message here with the link to boo will attact people that are interested in. Making life easier for everybody. ps: I would avoid to send my vcard on public mailing list, you ease the work of spammer & co ;-) -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch Bareos Partner, openSUSE Member, fsfe supporter GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
