[factory][15.3] modprobe: FATAL: Module nouveau not found in directory /lib/modules/5.3.18-22-default
TTY video is stuck at 1024x768. How is this happening? Are all the 15.3 workers using only NVidia's drivers with nouveau blacklisted? Are GPU modules now in some other package? The only 15.3 bug report I could find with nouveau mentioned is: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1180486 dependency conflicts with basic development patterns -- Evolution as taught in public schools, like religion, is based on faith, not on science. Did you install kernel-default-extra package? Nouveau driver isn't fully supported in SLE, hence it's split into the extra package. As Leap 15.3 inherits the SLE packages, this package split appears now. (FWIW, Leap receives yet more subpackage, kernel-default-optional, which contains the modules that are shipped only on Leap.) I guess the installation / upgrade of Leap 15.3 need to be adjusted to adapt this kernel split. Maybe in patterns or such. Takashi

I didn't have anything suggest to me I needed some new package /without/ string firmware in its name.

Could it be need for the extra package is accounted for when installing a kernel newer than the "latest" 5.3.18-22.2 (from last June)? -- Evolution as taught in public schools, like religion, is based on faith, not on science. It's always fun to have something new to learn :)

I believe it's been the old SLE15-SP2-GA kernel on the early Leap 15.3 (or Jump) until recently, and I'm sure that you had to install kernel-default-extra for nouveau driver as well. Takashi

This was an online upgrade. Nothing I saw told me I needed kernel-default-extra until I read your thread response here. Now thanks to this mailing list and you it's installed and graphics results are as expected. :) -- Evolution as taught in public schools, like religion, is based on faith, not on science.
