[opensuse-factory] update bootloader
Grub2 is not installed. Os-prober is not installed. Shim is not installed. Why does kernel update process try to run grub2-mkconfig? If you have no bootloader (for example because it's a container), then /etc/sysconfig/bootloader LOADER_TYPE should be none, not grub2. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

My OP was sent by mistake. I composed it, then remembered where to look for and found problem, then mistakenly clicked send instead of close window, without realizing that's what I had done until after a considerable period of time. :-p Martin Pluskal composed on 2017-03-14 15:40 (UTC+0100):

Why? You are clearly trying to shoot yourself in foot [1] and so far it seems that results are as expected.
The only thing clear is that I would be shooting myself in all my other body parts by using Grub2. All my many machines are multi-multiboot. Grub works simply and perfectly in such an environment, content with installation to / devices only, without continual complaints about unreliability of block lists, and readily installable to fresh clones from the Grub shell without any need for mounting filesystems in order to access complicated and unnecessary scripts. I find excellent reliability in using generic MBR code and having no OS or installation script touching MBR. The problem was that apparently the TW installer was changed to configure /etc/sysconfig/bootloader with grub2 (even though install no bootloader was selected), instead of to null as it had previously. I didn't catch the change in my initial post-install run through /etc/sysconfig/, and until after composing my OP. Likely I got distracted during post-install cleanup by needing to file https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1014167 and proceeding to do so while fresh in mind instead of when I should have been in bed asleep. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
