[opensuse-factory] Leap 15: wwwoffle gone (also from TW)
Hi, yesterday I upgraded 2 machines from Leap 42.3 to the current snapshot of Leap 15.0 using zypper dup and it went very smoothly on both. But I noticed that wwwoffle is not part of the distribution anymore, and after checking I found it is also no longer in TW. I could not find a hint about this in the release notes. Are there recommendations for a replacement (squid, ...)? I'm not aware of any replacement for the offline caching, but for plain web caching, squid is good. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (22.0°C) http://www.cloudsuisse.com/ - your owncloud, hosted in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

wwwoffle. Many years ago, I did some funny things with it ;-) # osc log -D openSUSE:Factory wwwoffle |head -n5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- r36 | dimstar_suse | 2017-07-04 11:32:33 | e02b848e0bb03eabc6823be241048e93 | 2.9j | rq506258 Fails to build, quite useless these days. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The package still exists (including the build failures) in https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/server:proxy/wwwoffle so if someone cares enough to maintain the package and fix the build failure, it should be possible to bring it back ;-) Regards, Christian Boltz -- hospitalistische Gründe. The fails aren't dramatic. * Missing user/group due to changes in how system users are created in Leap15 / TW * scripts in /etc/ppp (could be dropped, imho) So, update spec file and it should build again. - Yamaban. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Fails to build, quite useless these days. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is an easy to use caching proxy, e.g. to keep openSUSE RPMs around temporarily when several systems are upgraded or installed.

So, update spec file and it should build again. Thanks for the hints! I modified the spec file so it builds for factory and Leap15.0, and created SR #599649.
I kept the scripts in /etc/ppp because they might still have some value for users with PPTP (or PPPoE). Would be great if the package could come back! So who is going to waste their time with this ? On this day and age, this kind of software is mostly useless, the web moved to https everywhere..and more recently to http 2. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
