[opensuse-factory] fingerprint reader
Hi, I want to test the UPEK driver and fingerprint reader with Factory but it looks like the packages are not available. It does show up under http://software.opensuse.org/package/yast2-fingerprint-reader but not available anywhere... Is it being replaced with another package? Thanks, A -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Alejandro, You might need to add: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/hardware/fprintd Then the yast module will work. Doing this enabled it work on my HP with UPEK. http://people.freedesktop.org/~hadess/?C=M;O=D Has a patch to work with systemd and upower. YaST module is no longer available, but you can set it up manually using pam_fprint package. -- Michal HRUSECKY SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. openSUSE Team Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xFED656F6 19000 Praha 9 mhrusecky[at]suse.cz Czech Republic http://michal.hrusecky.net http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, so it will no longer be supported? Is this because its a feature users don't trust, don't want or has no maintainer behind? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I'm not maintainer, but AFAIK fingerprint readers are still supported (I'm using it myself) and I think the YaST module is one of the YaST modules that currently have no maintainer, so if you want nice GUI to set it up, you can step up and start maintaining it :-) http://kobliha-suse.blogspot.cz/2013/08/yast-modules-summer-sale.html -- Michal HRUSECKY SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. openSUSE Team Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xFED656F6 19000 Praha 9 mhrusecky[at]suse.cz Czech Republic http://michal.hrusecky.net http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Yep, module dropped, but you can still use fingerprint reader as much as you want. -- Michal HRUSECKY SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. openSUSE Team Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xFED656F6 19000 Praha 9 mhrusecky[at]suse.cz Czech Republic http://michal.hrusecky.net http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, If you check the project page at https://github.com/yast/yast-fingerprint-reader it says: This module is obsoleted and is not developed anymore. If you want to see the last state check the master_old branch. The package (source code) is free to be taken over.
