Any news when grub2 package will be included on the factory iso's?
It already is as of build 0370. Did a NET install today and Grub2 is on the boot menu. Haven't tried it yet though, sticking with legacy for now until I can learn the new one. On another note, I tried to get the installation program to see my other distros (FED-17a, OS-12.1, win-7) but it only recognized the NTFS partitions. Fortunately I had everything backed up so was able to copy part of the old menu.lst to the new one. I tried openSUSE-NET-x86_64-Build0369-Media.iso. GRUB2 installed by default. -- WBR Kyrill -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Unless there's a new release after the one I downloaded last week
through software.o.o the GNOME live CD still hasn't GRUB2, which is
quite awesome since it's the default but people manually need to
change it to grub, install and then install through zypper grub2, run
yast and make it use grub2.
Happy it was fixed meanwhile.

Software.o.o downloads M3, which is pretty old by now. download.opensuse.org/factory/iso are the most recent ones. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

since i wasn't sure which of the iso.s were installing ok (there's sporadic reports on this list & forums, but i didn't feel like reading all that stuff again), and since after installing from any iso image, even a more recent one, i'll still have to update most packages from the factory repo, i installed an old KDE liveCD (M3), which i proceded to upgrade to M4 via zypper. i see the point installing a released milestone to be able to submit bugs for that particular stage, but when installing factory anyway, what does it matter how recent the iso snapshot was? btw., regarding this thread's subject, grub2 was automatically installed & configured, in addition to legacy grub (which i chose), but i didn't look into / try that boot option yet. (no time, and was happy that i got everything working almost perfectly, incl. nvidia blob, audio, libreoffice (3.5.3.2), K:D:F incl. akonadi/nepomuk/strigi & kmail (haven't tried kontact yet either). -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

OK, that explains it. Stephan do you think it's possible to synch both resouces? One of the reasons I would invoque is that software.o.o has higher visibility in Google (that's how I went there). While in internal circles people can easilly get info, and given that there is being done investment on having more feedback from users, this would probably help the process, at least thats my opinion, I leave it up to those who can act upon it. NM

No. The factory isos are broken more often and that would be only frustrating to those outside of the "internal circle". For those we release milestones that saw enough testing to give at least a reasonable chance of success. Thx for the explanation, looks good.
