Only if upstream has implemented a configuration migration from the old kdelibs based version. That is why we aren't updating it (because it would lose all configuration data).

Given this is the second buddy to ask, can we have a separate digikam5 package then? I think people are mostly able to configure the app again (took me 30 seconds at most). Needless to say, digikam4 does not work for me reliably. thanks, -- js suse labs

5.1.0 is available in KDE:Extra, if you want to have it. That said, IMHO we could actually submit 5.1.0 to Tumbleweed maybe, it does display a dialog on first start that tells the user about this and how to copy the configuration. And there's no migration necessary for the database IIANM. OTOH, we should rather wait for 5.2.0 anyway, which is about to be released soon AFAIK.
Needless to say, digikam4 does not work for me reliably.
Why is that "needless to say"? How exactly does it not work reliably? Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

This is probably the best course of action. I'll try to update the package when 5.2 is out if no one else beats me to it first. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

Digikam 5.2.0 has been submitted to Factory: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/429966 -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

Ok, fair enough.

I use digikam primarily for inserting a geolocation. And the plugin for 4.0 is broken. Google maps do not render when panning etc. It uses some old API I would say, because in 5.0 the buttons in the map look differently. thanks, -- js suse labs -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Ah this. Yes, digikam4 (being a KDE4 application) uses the KDE4/Qt4 based libmarblewidget for this (which we still ship). I think the problem here is that this cannot load the map data and/or plugins from the KF5 based marble. I'm not sure this would be fixable though. We maybe could provide a marble4 package with the conflicting parts (e.g. the application itself) removed, but it's probably not worth the effort any more (for Tumbleweed at least). Not at all, I would say. I may be the only user of this and I switched to working digikam 5 anyway :). thanks, -- js suse labs -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

A quick update: digikam 5.2 has been accepted into Tumbleweed, and thanks to the heroic effort of Antonio Larrosa, we have a migration in place, once the following request lands in Tumbleweed: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/432953

Btw, note that the migration also fixes the album roots in the digikam database for digikam 5, so if someone upgraded and created new configuration files but can't see his/her picture collection, I would recommend to remove the new digikam 5 config files (this will of course lose the changes done if any) and then run the new (patched) digikam 5.2.0 package when it's available to do a proper migration. To remove the digikam5 config files, users should do: rm ~/.config/digikam* rm -Rf ~/.local/share/digikam -- Antonio Larrosa -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Not sure if this is actually related to the migration. Apparently digikam fails to load the database driver. What driver is set? grep Database ~/.config/digikamrc What drivers do you have installed? rpm -qa libQt5Sql* Kind Regards, Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
