[opensuse-factory] kmail changed To: into Me
The snapshot 20160605 left me with problems with kmail. The repair of the problems of snapshot 20160605 did not bring a solution. Neither> did snapshot 20160607. Most things started to work but the bigges problem is still there. If I receive emails instead of one of the email addresses I use I find just Me in the To: field. Not what I expect but I can live with it. Worse is that if I send an email to this list It is send by "Me' and as the list does not recognize "Me" I get it back. Have looked into the kmail setup but did not stumble on any command line which would restore kmail into normal behaviour. Where can I find a solution? For your information, I wrote one email via my gmail account which I put up in the case that kmail has problems with my normal email address. It is an send only address. But that account also sends from "Me' and I have been stuck. Will now setup Claws and see if I can get an acceptable email to the list. -- Linux User 183145 using Tumbleweed on a Pentium IV System : Linux 4.6.1-1-default Distro : openSUSE 20160607 (x86_64) Desktop: KDE Frameworks: 5.22.0 and Plasma 5.6.4 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

The only change upstream has done (will be in Applications 16.08) is that if you have multiple identities set up, there will be no "Me". -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

Just looked in the Kmail configuration and I still have two mail identities as receiver. Used the view headers and changed that setting to all headers from fancy headers and could see that both my identities are translated in Me.For completeness I used all potential header and found that both my identities are translated by Me. What I do not understand the translation in outgoing emails into Me. I have send you a cc from this email to you. Wonder if the cc also uses the Me as sender. -- Linux User 183145 using Tumbleweed on a Pentium IV System : Linux 4.6.1-1-default Distro : openSUSE 20160607 (x86_64) Desktop: KDE Frameworks: 5.22.0 and Plasma 5.6.4 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Is it just emails to lists? as they typically get the headers finagled. -- Lindsay Mathieson -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Notice, this is only a *display* setting, like Thunderbird does (I'm told). The actual mails delivered will have your full name and address.

This email was the first in two days that was accepted by the list. All other emails came back because the do not know "Me" at the list. Will delete both identities and reinstall them. Could help. Already did a forced reinstall of kmail. -- Linux User 183145 using Tumbleweed on a Pentium IV System : Linux 4.6.1-1-default Distro : openSUSE 20160607 (x86_64) Desktop: KDE Frameworks: 5.22.0 and Plasma 5.6.4 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

In Thunderbird, you can deselect this. The point where to do this is not obvious, but it exists :). The default is not to show the mail address, but the "real world Name" associated with this address in your addressbook. Or, if the address is one of the addresses you use for yourself, it becomes "Me". This can be annoying, and it can be a security risk, because it is easy to fake the display name. If the sender is given as "Good Guy <someone@spammer.net>" in the Mail, you only see "Good Guy" (since someone@spammer.net is not in your addressbook)... --
