[opensuse-factory] mini CDs ...
When trying out alphas and betas, I've finally gotten used to just burning the first 40Mb of the DVD (or the first CD-iso). "Wasting" a CD per version isn't really a big deal, but is there any way of e.g. creating one multi-session CD with Aplha1 and then appending the subsequent (mini-)versions thereafter? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - your spam is our business. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I usually don't even burn a mini CD and boot the installation directly from grub ;-) http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD Regards, Christian Boltz -- Yes, please, keep the bablefish! For a moment I feared you all would opt for twofish or blowfish. That would become to cryptic for me, as i do not intend to bring a loopback device along. What media do you boot from then?
Yeah, for production machines I also install/boot with PXE (NIC or floppy), but for testing a machine or an alpha/beta, I don't bother with the whole setup. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.com/ - your spam is our business. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I boot from hard disk, as usual - and then select the "installation" menu entry in grub. (I have mirrored the Factory tree on my home server and use this - via HTTP or NFS, depending on the phase of the moon ;-)

What's the problem? You have to copy the install kernel and initrd to /boot, add it in menu.lst and have the Factory tree available somewhere (and "somewhere" could as well be download.opensuse.org). Not really different to using the mini CD... Regards, Christian Boltz --
