[opensuse-factory] update-alternatives
Upgrading from way back I have the following packages installed, some of the files are hanging links or belonging to no package. # rpm -qa |grep java java-binfmt-misc-1.03-8.5.x86_64 javahelp2-2.0.05-6.19.noarch java-1_6_0-sun-plugin-1.6.0.u20-1.9.x86_64 gcc43-java-4.3.4_20091019-2.19.x86_64 java-1_5_0-gcj-compat-1.5.0.0-113.19.x86_64 gcc-java-4.5-5.2.x86_64 timezone-java-2010h-1.1.noarch ant-javadoc-1.7.1-11.1.noarch java-1_6_0-sun-1.6.0.u20-1.9.x86_64 java-1_6_0-openjdk-1.6.0.0_b17-3.2.x86_64 ooobasis-dev3.2-javafilter-3.2.0-9432.i586 gcc45-java-4.5.0_20100420-1.8.x86_64 gcc44-java-4.4.2_20100116-1.2.x86_64 ooobasis3.2-javafilter-3.2.0-9483.x86_64 netbeans-javaparser-6.8-1.1.noarch java-1_5_0-gcj-compat-devel-1.5.0.0-113.19.x86_64 I have added these lines to ~/.bashrc, but I get some errors with apps. There is no classes.zip file (deprecated??). export JAVA_HOME="/usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0" export CLASSPATH=/usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-sun-1.6.0 I have been able to do update-alternatives on individual files
l /etc/alternatives/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 2010-05-14 00:39 /etc/alternatives/java -> /usr/lib64/jvm/jre-1.6.0-sun/bin/java* I haven't found a way to do a mass update of all the files for 1.6.0_u20 and man "update-alternatives" is as clear as mud.
