[opensuse-factory] automounting USB devices with xfce on 12.3
I usually update my system with the traditional yast method. Now on 12.3, xfce no longer automounts devices in my USB card-reader. I think it used to work on 12.2, and it definitely work on a 12.3 installation from scratch. How can I debug this on my updated 12.3 system? Do others suffer from the same? If yse, I'd create a bug. -- Karl Eichwalder SUSE LINUX Products GmbH R&D / Documentation Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, but it must be something different because gvfs is already installed. -- Karl Eichwalder SUSE LINUX Products GmbH R&D / Documentation Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

gvfs is a recommended dependency of thunar, if you disable them in zypper that is what you get, the bare minimum to run Thunar. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Works fine for me. First, check your settings in "Removable Drives and Media" in the Settings Manager, then see if there is any output from thunar-volman in .xsession-errors. Please also post the output produced by the following commands when you insert the card: gvfs-mount --monitor --detail udisks --monitor-detail as root: udevadm monitor --udev --property In addition, please post the output of ck-list-sessions. Since this doesn't concern Factory we should probably discuss any further details on opensuse-xfce@. -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Is that boot from the 12.3 DVD, then choose "upgrade"? Notice that as this method is limited to update only what is in the DVD, the rest is not updated; thus you have to upgrade the rest manually and on-line. More info here: <http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Offline_upgrade>

My upgraded 12.3 and the previous 12.1 does not mount anything automatically. I have to open thunar, then click on the entry for the new device: then it is silently mounted. In fact, I prefer this behaviour, but maybe it is configurable. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Yes, this is what I expected, and in the end it turned out that it actually works. With Guido's help I figured out that my workstation has a simple hardwar issue; the front panel USB plugs no longer works--those on the backside are fine. -- Karl Eichwalder SUSE LINUX Products GmbH R&D / Documentation Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

1) Check cable. 2) Use another USB header. There are usually some unused. -- Regards, Rajko. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
