Dear all, During the last weeks I've been working in the MATE Desktop and finally I've reached a state that MATE installs and works pretty much OK. MATE repository is X11:MATE and there's a X11:MATE:Factory which I hoped it could become openSUSE:Factory development project for MATE. For this to happen, a few task are required: - Review the MATE packages (I have help from Dimstar in 'no-prisioners' mode, for the best packaging/integration possible); - A few packages need to go through SUSE Security review, because of: + DBus services; + PAM Modules; + Polkit interfaces; - Fix faenza-icon-theme (bnc#780049) - I'm working on this and writting a small installer in python to install the icon themes from the sources with the correct 'distributor-logo' and 'start-here' files (openSUSE); currently the dark variants are installing these links to ubuntu logo... - Add MATE to YaST interface Anyone has objections in providing MATE with openSUSE? People who want to try, install mate-desktop.ymp and check it out. I've been somehow involved with upstream and the plan is that next openSUSE release could provide MATE 1.6 since it's unclear that 1.8 might arrive before the feature freeze. Unlike Cinnamon, I'm really deadly serious about this; and while I don't expect sympathy or help, I hope MATE becomes a reality in openSUSE.
