[opensuse-factory] Package scheduled for removal: python-concurrentloghandler
Hi everybody, The package python-concurrentloghandler has been failing for > 120 days in openSUSE:Factory. The maintainers have been informed by email back in March. A bug, failed on June 17 (https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_ bug.cgi?id=985412) also remained unanswered. This email thus serves as an announcement that the package will be removed from the distribution on July 27 (in one week) UNLESS somebody steps up and fixes the package. Fixing the package is likely not going to be hard - who ever picks up the task though will have to pay extra care that updating the existing package to the new fixed one will work without issue. Cheers, Dominique PS: a build log can be found at: https://build.opensuse.org/package/liv e_build_log/openSUSE:Factory/python- concurrentloghandler/standard/x86_64

Hm, if you look at the current package (build date september 2014), it's empty - no python modules contained: apollon:~ # rpm -ql python-concurrentloghandler /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/ConcurrentLogHandler-0.9.1-py2.7.egg- info /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/ConcurrentLogHandler-0.9.1-py2.7.egg- info/PKG-INFO /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/ConcurrentLogHandler-0.9.1-py2.7.egg- info/SOURCES.txt /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/ConcurrentLogHandler-0.9.1-py2.7.egg- info/dependency_links.txt /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/ConcurrentLogHandler-0.9.1-py2.7.egg- info/top_level.txt /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/ConcurrentLogHandler-0.9.1-py2.7.egg- info/zip-safe /usr/share/doc/packages/python-concurrentloghandler /usr/share/doc/packages/python-concurrentloghandler/LICENSE /usr/share/doc/packages/python-concurrentloghandler/README Few people seem to actually use this package. Which gives a good indication on how useless the package probably is: nobody realised it in THIS long period... which also means: nobody actually uses it (Antoine actually started looking into this package after my removal announcement - with the same findings as yours) Makes it an even better candidate to be removed from the distro in my view. Cheers, Dominique

You're probably right. Anyway I used this as an osc exercise and fixed the package. I created submit request https://build.opensuse.org/reques t/show/412529 for it. Antoine was faster than myself and found a more elegant solution. See https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/412406. I revoked my request. Martin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
