I've successfully ran a zypper dup from 11.3 M6 to 11.3 M7.
It seems all is up and working but I noticed that by starting
MozillaFirefox from main menu, the application doesn’t starts.
marco@linux-oSUSE-11-3:~> cat /etc/SuSE-release
openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 7 (i586)
VERSION = 11.3
By running from console I get:
marco@linux-oSUSE-11-3:~> uname -a
Linux linux-oSUSE-11-3 2.6.34-8-default #1 SMP 2010-05-17 17:30:24 +0200
i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
marco@linux-oSUSE-11-3:~> firefox %u
/usr/bin/firefox: line 128: 6657 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@"
Instead if I launch it from console without any switches, it starts
marco@linux-oSUSE-11-3:~> firefox ....OK!
Just a quick one...
How did you update? I got permission dinied on the m7 directory!
(both the iso or the repo-dir)
I've followed the suggestion from Ken Schneider:
*Yes, zypper dup will do. Have the following repos (and only the
following repos) enabled:
Then I simply ran "zypper ref"; "zypper dup".
BTW in my case the distribution upgrade has not proceed completely
clean, since I've got a problem onto my rpm db, which I solved with
"rpm --rebuilddb" command.
I also have a virtual Ubuntu machine beside SUSE 11.3 and I did a
upgrade also on that to latest version 10-Lucid, which terminates
perfectly, without any accidents.
I think that Ubuntu uses a more reliable updating mechanism; but this is
another story and an absolutely personal comment.
