[opensuse-factory] Am I the only one with massive pulseaudio-bluetooth problems since ~ last week?
Hi dear former colleagues and great opensuse community! I am back, with a different e-mail address, but still running Tumbleweed on ~5 desktops. and I am taking the following problem as a "hello again, I am back!"... Since about a week all of them fail to connect to my Bluetooth headphones and other audio devices. They connect, then disconnect. I didn't find anything about that in the forests of Google and on opensuse mailing lists - I find it hard to believe I am the only one that suffers from that... (on Dell, Acer, and Lenovo hardware). Android phones connect instantly. Who can help? Where should I ask this question? mfeilner@fibonacci:~> bluetoothctl Agent registered [bluetooth]# paired-devices Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D PhilipsBT [bluetooth]# devices Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D PhilipsBT [bluetooth]# connect 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Attempting to connect to 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: yes Failed to connect: org.bluez.Error.Failed [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: no [bluetooth]# trust 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Trusted: yes Changing 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D trust succeeded [bluetooth]# connect 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Attempting to connect to 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: yes Failed to connect: org.bluez.Error.Failed [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: no [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: yes [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: no [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: yes [CHG] Device 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D Connected: no [bluetooth]# [bluetooth]# exit from journalctl -xe: Jul 12 11:17:43 fibonacci bluetoothd[1734]: connect error: Connection refused (111) Jul 12 11:17:43 fibonacci plasmashell[7493]: org.kde.bluez: PendingCall Error: "Resource temporarily unavailable" Jul 12 11:17:53 fibonacci bluetoothd[1734]: connect error: Connection refused (111) Jul 12 11:17:53 fibonacci kcmshell5[20253]: org.kde.bluez: PendingCall Error: "Resource temporarily unavailable" and here's a hcidump of the connect I tried from the desktop: # hcidump HCI sniffer - Bluetooth packet analyzer ver 5.50 device: hci0 snap_len: 1500 filter: 0xffffffffffffffff < HCI Command: Create Connection (0x01|0x0005) plen 13 bdaddr 0C:A6:94:D1:77:5D ptype 0xcc18 rswitch 0x01 clkoffset 0x0000 Packet type: DM1 DM3 DM5 DH1 DH3 DH5

Might be Bug#1135556 which was fixed in a different way recently. I can confirm that the fix in kernel 5.1.7 worked, but I can't check if the (different) fix in the latest version also works (away from my Bluetooth device). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I was actually planning on doing that, but I wanted to see if I am the only one with this problem ... ATM there's only non-audio BT connections working on my systems. Can you confirm that?
Thanks,

I do get bluetooth working, but OTOH I need to connect/disconnect about 10 times, and sometimes even though the connection is established pulseaudio does not register it. Bugzilla ;-) No, this list is totally appropriate for Factory issues. There was a recent regression in bluetooth pairing / connection handling in the kernel, which has been fixed now. Try: * old kernel (Leap 15.1, maybe without updates, as the bug was also backported to -stable) * newest kernel (Kernel:HEAD) A probably related bug (from my mailbox and memory): http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1134787 (check the comments, maybe the solution is just linked from there, my memory is not ECC ;-) Have fun, seife -- Stefan Seyfried "For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled." -- Richard Feynman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Wonderful! Thanks, Stefan, that was the info I was hoping for. After five years of exclusively using TW, I never ran into an issue that wasn't solved faster than I could follow. Nice. Good job, again. Thanks to all the developers out there and hi to all the SUSE peeps. It was a fun ride at SUSE! My hopes for a bright SUSE (and thus also opensuse) future are with you! I just upgraded to Kernel 5.2 by: zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/ kernel zypper ref zypper in kernel-default-5.2.0-9.1.g80522d2 Then I rebooted, and now I am listening to music magically coming through my bluetooth connection as it always did. Solved, fixed, thanks a lot! I may do a short blog post about that.
Thanks to all the developers out there and hi to all the SUSE peeps. It was a fun ride at SUSE! My hopes for a bright SUSE (and thus also opensuse) future are with you!

Bugzilla ;-) No, this list is totally appropriate for Factory issues.
There was a recent regression in bluetooth pairing / connection handling in the kernel, which has been fixed now.
Try: * old kernel (Leap 15.1, maybe without updates, as the bug was also backported to -stable) * newest kernel (Kernel:HEAD)
A probably related bug (from my mailbox and memory): http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1134787 (check the comments, maybe the solution is just linked from there, my memory is not ECC ;-)
Have fun,

U-what? Honestly, I've seen almost all bigger distributions, and I kinda liked them all when I saw the purpose they were made for. I like them all. And for my Desktops, TW is best. And I never want to go back to the times when modern Distros were not rolling and we had to be afraid of the next Release. LOL. On a server the mileage may differ, but my opinions don't matter. I am not a fan of containers, especially not of flatpack - where's the difference to a windows 3.11 exe-binary? No, thanks. :-) After I started with SUSE in the 90ies, I tried Debian (from stable to testing), Mint (rolling!), Ubuntu, Fedora (incl. Rawhide!) before I started working at SUSE, and two of the reasons I went to SUSE was Tumbleweed and the Build Service ecosystem - in 2015 that was already so much ahead. But, with this history at/of/about SUSE I sort of gave away my journalist's neutrality when I write about distributions, thus no matter how neutral I'd write, there might always be a doubt "Oh that's that former SUSE guy". So I probably won't write about Linux Distros... I knew this when I hired green. :-( Having said that: I am (still!) a convinced and enthusiastic TW user on KDE. My special one is using arch and similar stuff, but TW is always earlier and much more stable. IMHO. Exceptions prove the ruleHehehe.
